About Royal Jordanian
Royal Jordanian, the national carrier of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, was established in 1963 under the name "Alia," to become one of the first airlines in the region. It was privatized in December 2007 - the Jordanian government retained a 29 per cent holding with the next biggest shareholder, a company in the M1 group, with 19 per cent.
Royal Jordanian started its operations with three aircraft operating to three regional destinations.
With a network of more than 50 destinations in four continents today, Royal Jordanian is currently one of the largest airlines in the MENA region.
Royal Jordanian has always carried out its role as goodwill ambassador and bridge across which Jordan exchanges culture, civilization, trade, technology, friendship, and better understanding with the rest of the world, and sustains its vision of being the airline of choice connecting Jordan and the Levant with the world. Accordingly, Royal Jordanian is continually modernizing and upgrading its services, renewing the fleet, and expanding its route network and operations.
Network
Royal Jordanian Airlines serves more than 50 destinations in some 30 countries. It flies to around 30 points in the Arab world - giving it the most extensive network of any airline in this region. It flies to points in Asia, Europe, Africa and North America, including one world hubs Bangkok, Barcelona, Chicago O'Hare, Hong Kong, London Heathrow, Madrid and New York JFK.
With some 3,800 staff, Royal Jordanian carried almost two million passengers in 2006.
The airline operates one of the world's most modern fleets, numbering around 25 aircraft - with Airbus A340s on long haul routes (to be replaced by Boeing 787s from 2010), A320/A321s on short haul, and Embraer 195s on regional services. They operate more than 50 departures a day.
Travel Classes
Royal Jordanian offers two classes of service on all routes:
Crown Class - Crown Class is the epitome of luxury and comfort in air travel. Royal Jordanian merged its First and Business Classes to offer passengers a premium service at business rates. A wide selection of in-flight entertainment may be enjoyed, in addition to an à la carte dining service.
Economy Class - a 'royal' service is offered at Royal Jordanian, with individual in-flight entertainment screens, comfortable seats and a wide selection of meals that passengers can request according to their personal needs.
.
